AVP Business Intelligence
The Associate Vice President (AVP), Data Strategy and Warehousing will serve as the executive leader responsible for shaping and executing the enterprise-wide data vision. This role will oversee the strategic direction, architecture, governance, and compliance of the organization's data ecosystem, with a strong focus on Microsoft Azure and Microsoft Fabric foundation. The role will lead a talented team of data engineering professionals to deliver scalable, robust, extensible, and impactful data solutions. The role requires strong team leadership, hands-on technical skills, interpersonal skills working with peers and business partners, and long-term planning.
Essential Functions :
- Creates robust operational procedures to ensure high-quality ETL, data quality, data modeling, data architecture, and data integration
- Encourages process innovation, adoption of new technologies, and creative development of methodologies
- Develops reliable data assets used to deliver critical information to clinicians, patients, students, faculty, employees, and other stakeholders
- Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the iSCORE values of Jefferson.
- Define and lead the enterprise data strategy in alignment with institutional goals and regulatory requirements.
- Oversee the architecture, implementation, and optimization of data platforms using Microsoft Azure and Microsoft Fabric.
- Provide executive oversight of the organization's data estate, ensuring scalability, security, and interoperability across clinical, research, and administrative domains.
- Ensure compliance with NIST 800-171, HIPAA, FISMA, and other federal and industry data protection standards.
- Establish and lead enterprise data governance frameworks, including data stewardship, metadata management, and data quality programs.
- Lead cross-functional teams of data engineers, architects, analysts, and governance professionals.
- Foster a culture of data literacy, innovation, and accountability across the organization.
- Represent the institution in external collaborations with government agencies, research partners, and regulatory bodies.
Educational / Training Requirements :
BS or MS degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Management, Information Systems, or related fields.
Preferred :
Certifications in Azure architecture, data governance, or cybersecurity.Experience in academic medical centers, healthcare systems, or federally funded research institutions.Familiarity with clinical and research data standards (e.g., HL7, FHIR, CDISC).Experience Requirements :
10+ years experience in data engineering and data management experience.
5+ years of technical leadership experience, preferably in data engineering or related fields.
Deep expertise in Microsoft Azure data services and Microsoft Fabric.
Proven experience managing large-scale data estates in complex, regulated environments.
Demonstrated leadership in implementing and maintaining compliance with NIST 800-171, HIPAA, and other federal data standards.
Strong executive presence with the ability to influence and collaborate across all levels of the organization.
Exceptional strategic thinking, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
