Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Engineer Technologist Senior Principal to join our Naval weapon systems team in Louisville, Kentucky. The ideal candidate will challenge current operations and focus on improving all facets of machining and production processes across the site, including new equipment and product integration. This position will lead machining innovation across the Production Value Stream and play a key role in problem-solving and overcoming technical production barriers. The Engineer Technologist Senior Principal ensures technical compliance to manufacturing processes, policies, and procedures, and delivers innovative solutions to cross-functional teams to improve customer delivery, cost, and schedule.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic technical direction and guidance on complex projects, ensuring alignment with business goals
- Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams-including design, quality, and production-to ensure seamless integration of machining processes
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to other engineers and technicians; lead cross-functional teams and influence technical decisions
- Develop new machining processes, improve existing ones, and create necessary tooling and fixtures
- Identify and resolve complex technical issues related to machining processes, equipment, and product quality
- Develop and implement strategies to mitigate risks associated with machining operations and new technologies
- Create and maintain detailed documentation for analysis, research, and historical records related to machining processes
- Identify equipment needs and pursue capital expenditures for implementation
Required Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in a relevant technical discipline, such as engineering or technologyDeep knowledge of various machining processes, equipment, tooling, and materialsProficiency in using Siemens NX software for design and programming of machining operationsAbility to analyze complex problems, identify root causes, and develop effective solutionsStrong planning, execution, and project management skills; ability to ensure timely, high-quality resultsExcellent communication skills with both technical and non-technical audiences, verbal and writtenKnowledge of quality control procedures, inspection requirements, and relevant industry standardsAbility to plan manufacturing production schedules in accordance with production timelinesExperience leading the creation of ROMs, BOEs, and quotingSkilled with Microsoft Office Suite products (SharePoint, Outlook, Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint, etc.)Experience with capital project management and implementing new equipment and / or factory setupPreferred Qualifications
Experience in defense contracting (a plus)Ability to program multiple head configurations10+ years in a machining and manufacturing environmentCapable of programming complex 3, 4, and 5 axis mills, as well as multi-axis vertical and horizontal lathesKnowledge of writing and editing Post ProcessorsProgram / Project management experience (PMP certification a plus)Equal Opportunity Employer Statement
