By joining the team as a Loss Control Construction Specialist , you'll work with policyholders, agents, and company personnel through survey consultations and educational guidance.
How You'll Make an Impact
- Provide training, onboarding, coaching, and quality oversight for any additional loss control construction consultants (new or existing) within your region
- Develop, update, and maintain loss control technical resources related to the construction vertical (e.g., survey guides, bulletins, webinars, and research of new vendors) with support from the senior loss control construction manager and director of loss control
- Be a technical resource and act as an expert providing direction and identifying new ways to improve processes
- Provide internal training support to loss control and underwriting teams
- Complete hazard four reviews as assigned for construction-related loss control reports
- Conduct loss control surveys and service activities in your assigned territory for construction accounts over a designated premium threshold
- Attend and actively participate in construction underwriting group meetings as requested and visit key agency partners in conjunction with our construction underwriters and distribution team.
- Provide education to agents on OHSA relevant onsite trainings and certifications for complex / large middle market construction accounts and agencies as requested (e.g., OSHA trainings)
- Conduct surveys for small business construction accounts as workloads allow
- Travel via assigned company vehicle within a defined territory to provide loss control services to policyholders and agents in assigned territories
- Independently complete tasks and projects, including research and analysis, and provide recommendations to support underwriting profitability
- Analyze claims, hazards, and safety data to make effective decisions and recommendations
- Assist with non-construction accounts as assigned
- Independently complete continuing education and certifications that support technical skills related to the construction vertical
What You'll Bring
Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety and Health with a concentration in Construction Safety or related field and six years of experience conducting surveys for small and middle market construction-related risks such as residential and commercial contractors (to include civil contractors, homebuilders, general contractors, and artisan contractors).Or eight years of experience conducting surveys for small and middle market construction-related risks such as residential and commercial contractors (to include civil contractors, homebuilders, general contractors, and artisan contractors).Possess and maintain Construction Risk and Insurance Specialist (CRIS) designationARM, CRP, CPCU, CFPS, CRM, ASP, CSP, or OHST risk management designationValid driver's licenseAbility to climb ladders and access building rooftops and construction jobsitesPreferred
