Masco Corporation has an outstanding opportunity for an experienced finance leader who is multifaceted, innovative, and highly motivated to lead our Corporate Control Services team. The Director of Global Corporate Control Services provides leadership and oversight of our enterprise-wide internal controls over financial reporting (ICFR) program and team member talent development.
Located at Masco's corporate headquarters in Livonia, Michigan, the Director of Global Corporate Control Services will report to the Vice President, Controller and Chief Accounting Officer. Currently, this position will have two direct reports and oversight over 6 internal control managers across the organization.
This director position ensures a high level of service to Masco. This role ensures the reliability, accuracy, and completeness of Masco's financial statements and disclosures and includes responsibility for setting strategy, optimizing testing approaches through risk assessments and process improvements, and monitoring progress of the global ICFR program, overseeing the implementation of internal controls for newly acquired businesses, coordinating with internal and external auditors, and communicating with Masco and business unit senior executives. The position also involves people management and leading a diverse team in a complex risk environment.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Promotes, maintains, and enhances a culture of effective and efficient internal control over financial reporting across 25 operating and non-operating units, including setting strategy, testing of controls and ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements
- Leads all aspects of Masco's ICFR-related accounting policies and provides training and guidance to control owners and managers responsible for implementing and managing key controls on policies and self-testing protocols
- Coordinates and works directly with internal and external auditors and business unit partners throughout the organization
- Leads continuous improvement initiatives to identify and execute process improvements, including leveraging new or existing technology
- Prepares presentations and leads discussions with senior executives and audit committee members
- Demonstrates effective people management by recruiting top talent, setting clear objectives, supporting staff development, overseeing performance and compensation decisions, fostering collaboration, and addressing disciplinary matters, as necessary
- Supports business units in their change management process (SOX 302) including risk-based design effectiveness reviews
- Evaluates internal control deficiencies for potential impact and determination of control classification (e.g., control deficiency, significant deficiency or material weakness)
- Oversees the administration of PwC fees, SOX GRC and the Masco contract control system
- Supports Masco or BU management in the integration of new acquisitions including the introduction of internal controls
Education & Experience
10+ years enterprise audit and / or finance experienceBachelor's degree in accounting, business, finance, or related fieldCPA, CMA or CIA designationProficient in COSO, SOX, and other applicable audit standards, procedures, laws, rules, and regulations, including current and emerging trendsStrong analytical skills and attention to detailHigh degree of professional excellence characterized by sound independent judgment, initiative, standard of ethics and an aptitude to lead and develop othersStrong business intuition, can navigate complexity and ambiguity to cultivate breakthrough thinking and create winning strategies, has a track record of problem-solving, anticipating customer needs and future demandsExcellent prioritization and project management skills and executes with urgency to drive actions and resolutions.
