1. Position Summary
The Industrial Painter is responsible for preparing, priming, and painting metal surfaces specifically electrical transformers and related components to ensure high-quality finishes and corrosion protection in accordance with company and industry standards. This role involves surface preparation, color matching, mixing and applying coatings, and performing quality checks to ensure compliance with specifications.
2. Key Responsibilities
Must have experience painting on metal surfaces (using an airless or compressed air spray gunPerform touch-ups, repairs, or rework as needed to meet quality standards.Prepare metal surfaces mix, thin and apply paint (transformers.) cleaning, sanding, grinding, masking, or applying chemical treatments.Follow product data sheets and safety standards.Follow all environmental, health, and safety regulations, including handling and disposal of hazardous materialsApply protective coatings such as epoxy, polyurethane, or powder coatings to prevent corrosion and ensure durability.Determine paint type, color, and finish requirements.Inspect surfaces for defects, ensuring even coating, adhesion, and color consistency.Maintain painting equipment, tools to ensure proper operation and cleanliness.Assist in moving and positioning large parts or assemblies safely for painting.Record paint batches, materials used, and job completion data accurately.3. Qualifications
Experience with painting electrical transformers or large fabricated metal equipment .Education and Experience :
High school diploma or equivalent (GED) preferredMinimum 1-2 years of industrial or metal painting experience , preferably in transformer, heavy equipment, or metal fabrication environments.Experience with airless spray systemsKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities :
Knowledge of industrial paint types, surface preparation methods, and coating systems.Ability to read and understand work orders, data sheets, and safety instructions.Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.Physical ability to stand, bend, lift (up to 50 lbs), and work in various positions for extended periods.Knowledge of safety practices including use of PPE, ventilation systems, and hazardous material handling.Basic mechanical aptitude for maintaining spray equipment.4. Working Conditions
Work performed in a manufacturing or remote job location with exposure to paint fumes, solvents, and airborne particles.Use of respirators, protective clothing, gloves, and safety glasses required.May be required to work overtime or weekends depending on production schedules.Standing and manual labor required for the majority of the shift.5. Physical Requirements
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.Must be able to climb ladders, stoop, kneel, and stand for long periods.Vision requirements include color perception
