Description :

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :

1. Point of contact for all attorney needs.

2. Obtains approval for and schedules attorney patient appointments

3. Obtains past medical records on all attorney patients.

4. Sends invoices and collects prepays for attorney patient initial visits.

5. Sends attorneys updated notes and bills after each visit.

6. Drafts estimate sheets for attorney pay surgeries and collects prepay before surgery can be scheduled.

7. Posts all attorney payments for initial visits, surgeries and any balances due on attorney patient accounts.

8. Gets approval for and schedules Second Medical Opinions and Independent Medical Examinations.

9. Sends invoices and collects prepays for SMO / IMEs.

10. Makes sure all records, films and prepayments are all here prior to SMO / IME appointment taking place and distributes same to doctor with ample time for review before appointment.

11. Posts all payments for SMO / IMEs and any additional fees incurred before or during appointment.

12. Schedules all attorney conferences between doctor and attorney.

13. Collects prepay and posts payments for attorney conferences.

14. Schedules all rehab conferences between doctor and case managers for workers’ comp patients.

15. Collects prepay and posts payments for rehab conferences.

16. Schedules all depositions.

17. Collects prepay and posts payments for depositions.

18. Sends invoice and collects payment for any additional time deposition goes over the first hour prepaid for.

19. Coordinates doctors’ trial appearances.

20. Sends invoice for full or half day of appearance at trial and collects prepay for same before doctor will move around his schedule and testify.

21. Posts payments for trial appearances.

22. Sends invoices for all requested narrative reports, SMO addendums and impairment ratings.

23. Posts payments for all narrative reports, SMO addendums and impairment ratings.

Requirements : EDUCATION :

High school diploma or GED.

EXPERIENCE :

  • Minimum two to three years of experience in the medical field. Must be able to communicate effectively with physicians, patients, attorneys, and the public and be capable of establishing good working relationships with both internal and external customers.
  • REQUIREMENTS :
  • None.

KNOWLEDGE :

  • Knowledge of the physician billing processes, ICD-10, and CPT coding.
  • Knowledge of computer systems. Experience with the GE patient management system preferred.
  • Advanced computer knowledge, including Windows-based programs.
  • SKILLS :

  • Skill in customer service and an understanding of LOS’s code of conduct and culture.
  • Skill in using computer programs and applications, including Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and Outlook.
  • Skill in establishing good working relationships with both internal and external customers.
  • ABILITIES :

  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. Must be detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to understand patient demographic information and determine insurance eligibility.
  • Ability to work independently and demonstrate the ability to analyze data.
  • ENVIRONMENTAL / WORKING CONDITIONS :

  • Normal office environment.
  • PHYSICAL / MENTAL DEMANDS :

  • Requires sitting and standing associated with a normal office environment. Some bending and stretching required. Manual dexterity using a calculator and computer keyboard.
  • ORGANIZATIONAL REQUIREMENTS :

  • LOS employee manual must be read, and acknowledgement receipt signed.
  • OSHA Requirements and training to include :
  • Safety Training.
