Position Summary
The Registered Dietitian plays a key role in supporting the nutritional health and well-being of our residents. This position is responsible for assessing dietary needs, developing individualized nutrition care plans, and collaborating closely with nursing, medical staff, and our Dining Services Director to ensure proper implementation. The Registered Dietitian promotes best practices in nutrition care, ensures regulatory compliance, and supports overall clinical quality within the facility.
Primary Responsibilities
Conduct comprehensive nutritional assessments and develop individualized care plans for residents.
Monitor and evaluate residents’ nutritional status, adapting care plans as needed.
Collaborate with Nursing, Medical Providers, and the Dining Services Director to ensure dietary needs are met.
Provide guidance on menu planning, therapeutic diets, and meal service standards.
Participate in interdisciplinary care team meetings and care plan conferences.
Ensure accurate and timely documentation in accordance with facility policies and state / federal regulations.
Educate staff and families on nutrition-related topics when appropriate.
Lead the implementation of clinical nutrition programs and ensure adherence to regulatory standards.
Qualifications
Must be a Registered Dietitian (RD) with active licensure / certification as required by the State of Connecticut.
Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition / Dietetics and successful completion of a Dietetic Internship or equivalent.
Membership with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (formerly American Dietetic Association) preferred.
Experience in long-term care or skilled nursing facility strongly preferred.
Strong communication, documentation, and interdisciplinary collaboration skills.
