Senior Development Director

City Year is seeking a dynamic and experienced fundraising professional with an entrepreneurial spirit to serve as the Senior Development Director. This role is ideal for a strategic and creative communicator who thrives in collaborative environments. Reporting directly to the Executive Director & Senior Vice President, you will lead the Development Manager and be responsible for crafting and executing the Development and Communications strategy for City Year, aiming to raise $850,000 from the private sector in FY26 and beyond. Your efforts will contribute to an annual growth trajectory in fundraising initiatives.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Fundraising Strategy : Collaborate with the Executive Director and Development team to enhance the site's existing fundraising plan. Implement strategic initiatives to meet the current $850,000 goal while preparing for future growth.
  • Partnership Development : Identify and secure partnerships with corporations and foundations that align with their business needs and community engagement goals.
  • Stewardship Program : Create and manage an engaging stewardship program that acknowledges and thanks supporters, fostering strong relationships with the organization.
  • Portfolio Management : Build and oversee a portfolio targeting $500,000 through donations from individuals with a capacity for giving of $10,000 or more. Engage regularly with 5-7 donors per week through various communication methods.
  • Communications Strategy : In partnership with the Executive Director, develop and implement a communications strategy to enhance City Year’s brand locally and strengthen connections with key donor audiences through diverse channels.
  • Event Strategy : Lead the planning and execution of large-scale fundraising events, including the annual luncheon and other community events, to engage donor communities meaningfully.
  • Organizational Leadership : Participate in shaping organizational strategy and contribute as a member of the site Leadership Team, collaborating with all site departments and representing City Year's values.
  • Development Operations : Direct monthly pipeline meetings with the Development team, providing updates on revenue figures and progress toward goals while identifying opportunities for operational improvements.
