Job Description

Your next challenge

Can you take a rough sketch and turn it into a precise tool that makes production safer and faster? Do you switch comfortably between CNC and manual machines, keep a spotless bench, and know when to tweak speeds / feeds to nail the tolerance? If so, this is your arena.

How you'll contribute

You’ll manufacture and modify parts and tooling across CNC mills / lathes and manual equipment. Some assignments arrive with minimal direction—your blueprint literacy, shop math, and metrology skills let you plan the work, choose materials and cutters, and execute accurate setups. You’ll confer with engineers and operators, proposing improvements that reduce cost, boost efficiency, or enhance safety. You’ll also keep machines healthy, monitor indicators, and troubleshoot issues quickly to keep work flowing.

Responsibilities

  • Set up, adjust, and operate CNC and manual machine tools to meet specification on parts and tooling.
  • Read / interpret blueprints, prints, and verbal instructions; translate them into accurate setups and toolpaths.
  • Select materials, tooling, and fixturing; program or hand-operate as appropriate to the job.
  • Use precision instruments—micrometers (incl. depth), ID / OD gauges—to calculate and verify tolerances.
  • Apply 5S and lean habits; rigorously follow safe work and lockout / tagout procedures; work independently when necessary.
  • Monitor gauges, dials, and machine behavior; identify root causes of errors and implement corrective actions.
  • Order raw material and record work within the ERP system.
  • Assist with related tasks and continuous improvement initiatives as assigned.

Qualifications

  • 1–3 years in machining required; job shop and CNC backgrounds valued. Formal schooling or an AAS in an engineering discipline preferred.
  • Track record of holding tight tolerances; confident with complex drawings and sketches.
  • Skilled in CNC tooling and manual machining; CAD / CAM familiarity.
  • Understanding of tooling technologies, speeds / feeds, and LOTO requirements.
  • Strong initiative, teamwork, communication, and shop-floor presence.
  • Proficient in math and MS Office; capable of operation monitoring and systematic troubleshooting.
  • Machines & software

  • CNC Mill (3–4 axis VMC) (Bridgeport)
  • CNC Lathe (2–4 axis)
  • Manual mills / lathes, drill press, sanders, grinders
  • CAD / CAM software
  • Physical demands

  • Close visual acuity for inspection and instrument reading.
  • Ability to lift / pull / push up to 50 lbs during equipment setup / teardown.
  • Standing 8–10 hours; frequent bending and reaching while setting up and verifying dimensions.
  • Rewards

Compensation reflects your skills, experience, training, certifications, and organizational needs. As you deliver quality and share ideas, you’ll expand your influence across engineering and operations.
