Join to apply for the Public Sector Site Sales Consultant role at MSC Industrial Supply Co.

Site Sales Consultant (SSC) is a key part of driving MSC's Public Sector market position and achieving revenue and profit growth within Public Sector key customer site locations (100,000–1,000,000 potential). The SSC will be assigned a portfolio of $1M–$2M in annual revenue with a focus on growing Public Sector sales, with current and new customers, in their geographic territory. The SSC aligns with Public Sector goals : growth, industry leadership, and higher performance teamwork. The SSC will build strategic customer site relationships, identify business opportunities within Public Sector, negotiate and close deals, support succession planning for the KPS role, and maintain knowledge of current market conditions. The SSC will collaborate with KPS and team managers to increase sales opportunities and maximize revenue, and will manage and maintain customer relationships at the ship-to level with assigned Public Sector customers across the designated territory.

Responsibilities

  • Sell MSC products and services to Public Sector opportunities and accounts to achieve individual and corporate sales and profit goals.
  • Drive sales at assigned Public Sector site locations and customer facilities within the region.
  • Prepare and deliver sales presentations addressing customer needs; deliver quarterly CIR presentations with key customers.
  • Engage customers by linking their business priorities to MSC's value proposition and guide them through the buying process.
  • Develop relationships with key Public Sector agencies to become MSC's local contact; map customer decision-making and key points of contact.
  • Gather, organize, and analyze information on Public Sector accounts to help create a growth business plan with the team.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of Public Sector customers and market trends; infer customer needs based on market insights.
  • Qualify and articulate value beyond ROI / financial terms and demonstrate how MSC's solutions address customer needs.
  • Coordinate internal resources to maintain deal momentum and define next steps with customers.
  • Leverage mobilizers and stakeholders to drive action; tailor messaging to customer personalities and requirements.
  • Maintain CRM (SFDC) and other platforms with current content and actions per MSC standards.
  • Participate in training, account planning, and development activities as assigned.
  • Foster MSC culture and support new initiatives to meet customer needs.
  • Participate in special projects and cross-functional teams as required.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree in business, Industrial Distribution, or equivalent experience is required.
  • 2 years of demonstrated success in Public Sector sales is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of compliance requirements and ongoing education to stay up to date on industry events.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint; Salesforce.com experience.
  • Preferred / Bonus Points

  • Ability to travel to customer locations within the territory.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs; physical activity such as pushing, pulling, bending, and climbing may be required.
  • Access to ITAR / CUI information may be required.
  • Other Requirements

  • Compensation

    Salary starting at $62,930 – $98,89- and up, depending on experience. The salary range represents similar roles in comparable industries and is influenced by location and peer pay equity. The company reserves the right to modify the range as market conditions change.
