Description :
We are seeking a Progressive Care RN to join our team.
The nurse will work a 4x12 schedule with day and night rotations.
Every other weekend and holiday coverage is expected.
This is a 13-week contract position.
The nurse will be responsible for providing care in a general Progressive Care Unit.
The nurse will encounter a variety of patient diagnoses and treatments.
The nurse will manage a patient-to-nurse ratio of 1 : 4.
The unit has 11 to 20 beds and serves adult and geriatric patients.
Candidates should possess strong airway and respiratory skills.
Skills include administering breathing treatments, chest tube setup and care, CPAP / BiPap, and trach care.
Candidates should demonstrate cardiac and circulatory skills, including blood product administration and cardioversion.
Experience with CVP, post-operative care, sheath removal, and tele interpretation is required.
The nurse should be proficient in line management and equipment skills.
This includes caring for drains, epidural pumps, feeding tubes, PCA pumps, PICC lines, and central lines.
Knowledge of medications commonly used on the unit is essential.
These medications include amiodarone, cardizem, heparin, insulin, nitroglycerin, and nicardipine.
Critical care skills in cardiac, medical, neuro, surgical, and trauma settings are necessary.
The position is categorized as a rapid response crisis role.
