Senior Manager, Acton Plant Controller
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Manager, Plant Controller to lead financial operations at our U.S.-based medical device manufacturing plant in Acton, MA. This role is a key business partner to site leadership, driving financial performance, operational efficiency, compliance, and strategic decision-making in a highly regulated environment. The ideal candidate brings deep manufacturing finance experience, strong accounting and controls experience as well as a passion for continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities :
- Lead financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting activities for the plant.
- Ensure timely and accurate month-end close and financial reporting deliverables.
- Partner with cross-functional teamsoperations, engineering, quality, supply chainto drive cost improvement and value creation initiatives.
- Oversee capital expenditure tracking and analysis; measure and report on whether capital projects are delivering expected financial and operational benefits.
- Continuous improvement mindset to drive improvements in quality and efficiency of data, analysis and controls.
- Drive compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements through robust internal controls and audit readiness.
- Utilize financial and non-financial metrics to assess plant performance, identify opportunities, and inform strategic decisions.
- Effectively communicate plant financial results to a variety of stakeholders.
- Support global standard costing with a focus on local overhead rates, material costs, variance analysis, and inventory accounting in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
- Support plant initiatives such as lean manufacturing, process optimization, and quality improvement efforts. Validate the effectiveness of these programs with site management.
- Manage, develop, coach, and mentor a small team of finance professionals, building a high-performance, results-oriented culture.
- Collaborate with other Insulet operations and finance teams to drive efficient and consistent processes across the organization.
- Support Scrap Analysis and reconciliation between tracking systems and treatment within the P&L. Represent Manufacturing Finance for project or process updates or implementation as needed.
Qualifications :
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field.Demonstrated leadership skills including a minimum of 10 years' progressive finance experience, including 7+ years in a manufacturing or plant controller role.Experience in the medical device or life sciences industry strongly preferred.Strong foundation in US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and SOX compliance.Deep understanding of cost accounting, inventory management, and manufacturing operations.Ability to handle multiple concurrent projects and meet deadlines.Proficiency with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and strong Excel and financial modeling skills.Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, including the ability to influence and coach teams to financial objectives.Preferred Skills & Attributes :
Familiarity with FDA regulations and ISO quality standards.CPA preferred.Track record of driving financial performance in a regulated manufacturing setting.Ability to thrive in a matrixed organization and adapt in a fast-paced environment.Note : This position requires on-site working (requires on-site office / plant / lab work).
