CoBank interns get real-life exposure to the daily duties of their group. They spend the summer as a valued member of their respective team, learning business skills and assisting with a variety of projects that have an impact on the bank’s operations. An additional focus of the summer intern will be to complete a capstone project that will seek to add value to the team they are supporting.
Job Description
At CoBank, our Credit/Finance Interns conduct cash flow, balance sheet, profitability, liquidity, and solvency analysis for commercial credit reports. This intern will partake in various portfolio management activities by addressing compliance, finance, legal, and closing opportunities and/or issues. A capstone summer project will also be completed. Projects could include industry research, portfolio analysis, market snapshots, general economic outlooks, etc.
The Power, Energy & Utilities Group provides essential and multi-faceted financing to borrowers across the country delivering critical energy services and infrastructure. A credit role in the group provides a unique opportunity for an intellectually curious individual to be in the forefront of an evolving and dynamic energy industry with fascinating technological advancements, learn from other talented and experienced individuals, converse with a broad spectrum of borrowers across the country that face unique challenges, learn more about the debt capital markets and syndicated loan market, interface with rating agencies, and broaden various skillsets. Basic Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in and working towards an undergraduate or graduate degree in Accounting and/or Finance, Economics, or a related discipline and in good academic standing.
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated skills in the use of Microsoft Office applications.
- Basic understanding of balance sheets, income statements and cash flows.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to model in Excel.
- Aptitude for learning other software applications.
- Ability to perform research across multiple systems.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong written and verbal communications.
- Experience in banking or financial services industry.
Compensation Information:
- Undergraduate student - $21.00
- Masters student - $25.00
- Plus summer living stipend
