Early Childhood Substitute Teacher

Description:

Join our substitute pool to provide dependable coverage in infant, toddler, and preschool classrooms. Maintain safety and routines, support learning through play, and work closely with our team to provide warm, developmentally appropriate care.

Schedule

Monday–Friday, 7:00 a.m.–5:30 p.m.; choose your availability (4–8 hour shifts). Occasional early/late coverage as needed.

Responsibilities

• Cover infant, toddler, and preschool classrooms; maintain ratios and active supervision.
• Follow teacher-prepared plans and routines; lead activities using positive guidance.
• Support care routines (diapering/toileting, handwashing, meals, nap).
• Keep spaces clean; complete simple health/safety/incident logs.
• Communicate with staff and families professionally.

Requirements:

• 18+ years old; High school diploma or GED.
• Able to pass required background checks and meet Iowa health requirements (e.g., TB and immunizations).
• Can lift up to 40 lbs; move quickly; sit/kneel on the floor.
• Preferred: CDA or ECE coursework; 6+ months in licensed child care; Pediatric CPR/First Aid (or within 30 days).
