Job Description

The Machine Operator is responsible for the safe and productive operation of machines, including the Granulator, Shredder, Color System, Wet Sorter System, and Extruder. This role also involves material handling and maintaining a high-quality product.

Responsibilities

• Set up, run, shut down, troubleshoot, clean, and perform general maintenance of the machines.
• Thoroughly clean boxes, lids, and skids before use.
• Complete the log at the end of each shift passing information along to the supervisor in a timely manner.
• Keep the work area clean and organized throughout the shift.
• Compute weights using correct gross, tare, and net figures, and weigh material in boxes and hoppers, recording weights accurately.
• Load and unload material.
• Compute pounds per hour processed during the run and compute percentages to document various run conditions and productivity standards.
• Prepare boxes for material by placing labels in proper locations and / or removing extra labels.

Work Environment

The work environment is a traditional manufacturing setting with large systems designed to process and separate plastics materials. It can be dusty and noisy, necessitating hearing and eye protection. The facility may become hot during the summer and is comfortable in the winter. Employees must be willing to climb stairs or use an aerial lift. There is a strict dress code to ensure safety, including requirements for secure clothing and the prohibition of jewelry. No cell phones or smart watches are allowed on the production floor. The shifts offered are 1st Shift (7 : 30am – 4 : 00pm), 2nd Shift (3 : 30pm - 12am), and 3rd Shift (11 : 30pm – 8 : 00am).

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of the Park 100 area in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $22.00 / hr.
