Direct Counsel is seeking a talented and motivated Business Litigation Attorney in Salt Lake City for an AmLaw 100 firm . This is an excellent opportunity for a mid-level attorney to join a high-performing litigation team handling complex commercial disputes, pre-trial strategy, and trial preparation for sophisticated clients.

About the Role

The Business Litigation Attorney will support senior attorneys in all phases of complex business litigation — from case strategy and discovery through trial. You’ll handle key assignments independently, participate in client meetings, and gain meaningful courtroom and deposition experience.

This is a position for someone who enjoys strategic thinking, persuasive writing, and working collaboratively with a strong litigation team.

Key Responsibilities

Review case facts and provide strategic legal analysis and recommendations.

Prepare and argue pre-trial motions in state and federal courts .

Assist lead trial attorneys in case strategy, discovery management, and witness preparation .

Draft complex legal memoranda, motions, and pleadings.

Prepare and take depositions, including complex deponent testimony.

Independently manage smaller matters from intake through resolution with minimal supervision.

Prepare motions for summary judgment and assist in trial preparation.

Qualifications

Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school with strong academic credentials.

Active UT license and in good standing.

3–6 years of associate-level experience in complex business or commercial litigation.

Strong familiarity with federal and state court procedures and rules.

Excellent writing, drafting, and analytical skills.

Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple cases effectively.

Strong communication, negotiation, and client service skills.

Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team while also managing tasks independently.
