Air Traffic Controller Specialist
ASRC Federal Communications is seeking an Air Traffic Controller Specialist for our ISS2 contract supporting our Air Force customer. This position is located on Wake Island. It's a rotational position in which the selected employee will work a schedule of 3 months on the island and 1 month off, unpaid. Wake Island is 2,100 miles away from HNL. While working on-site, housing is provided in the form of a dormitory facility. All meals are furnished through the cafeteria. You are responsible for the flight from your home base to HNL. Transportation to Wake Island is provided by government-sponsored aircraft. This is a negotiated union position. The Air Traffic Controller Specialist is responsible for ensuring safe movement of aircraft, coordinating Air Traffic Control clearances, controlling all flight line activities, flight following all transient aviation, maintaining Base Operations event logs, monitoring Fixed Base Weather Observation Station (FBWOS), and issuing all relevant notices and approvals for aviation transit activities through Wake Island Airfield. The incumbent may perform airfield inspections, FOD checks, BASH response, and other duties as required to assist the Airfield Manager.
Essential Duties & Job Functions :
Job Requirements (Education, Experience, Professional Associations) : Mandatory One or more of the following : 1. USAF Airfield Management to include Base Operations, or 2. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Licensed Aircraft Dispatcher, or 3. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Licensed Air Traffic Control (ATC) Specialist. High School diploma or equivalent. Journeyman skill level in Airfield Management, Air Traffic Control, or Aircraft Dispatch. Operation of VHF and UHF air-to-ground radio systems. Complete and submit application paperwork for a secret clearance within 30 days of hire. Obtain and maintain the secret clearance. U.S. Citizen Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record. Ability to pass a pre-employment background check, fingerprints, physical and drug test. Preferred Knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs) and applicable Air Force Instructions (AFIs). USAF Airfield Management course or civil equivalent (FAA Airport Certification and / or AAAE ACE / Operations Certification). Two (2) years Base Operations work experience with working knowledge of ATC Principles / Procedures. Five (5) years aviation work experience.
