POSITION SUMMARY :

To provide direct training instruction and guidance to athletes. Coaches work with team members to help improve their performance and skills in order to deliver Framingham Public Schools high expectations for achievement.

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE :

Experience in playing and or coaching 2-4 years beyond graduating high school.

SKILLS AND ABILITY :

To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Ability to train supervise guide and instruct the athletes; to be able to motivate and support the team members; to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form; to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups including staff parents and the general public. To establish facts and draw valid conclusions; to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students parents staff and the community; to work independently prioritize tasks and manage several projects simultaneously; to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements state and federal laws and Framingham Public Schools policies (as long as the policies do not conflict with the Framingham Teachers Association (Unit A) Contract ); to work with students of diverse backgrounds with diverse needs in an equitable and inclusive manner that bears to witness to cultural proficiency; to maintain appropriate confidential records; to react professionally and objectively to unpredictable situations (e.g. environmental changes behavior / aggression seizure activity etc.); and ability / willingness to plan coordinate conduct and participate in ongoing professional and staff development.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

• Understands the strengths of the players and inspire them to overcome their weaknesses by using different types of coaching styles to add to their confidence level.
• Advises guides and counsels the athletes on their nutrition health safety and the use of various sports equipment.
• Assesses evaluates the performance of the athletes during the training and games
• Follows established procedures for the proper care maintenance and requisitioning of equipment supplies and uniforms.
• Develops a regular practice schedule and organizes practice time to provide both individual and team development.
• Works with the athletic director in scheduling facilities for practices and competition.
• Models nondiscriminatory practices in all activities
