About the Role

As a Staff Officer in Military Partnerships , you’ll play a critical role in strengthening NATO’s allied partnership programs. You’ll brief senior leaders, refine partnership policies, and ensure NATO capabilities are integrated seamlessly into partner efforts. From space to cyber, you’ll help shape how interoperability and resilience are achieved across domains — driving forward NATO’s collective defense and partnership strategy.

This role combines strategic thinking, policy expertise, and operational coordination , giving you a front-row seat to multinational defense planning.

What You’ll Do

Core Responsibilities

Support NATO partnership initiatives through policy development, directive refinement, and strategic foresight.

Deliver high-level briefings to senior officers and decision-makers.

Provide capability gap analysis and recommendations to strengthen allied cooperation.

Coordinate across NATO entities to ensure unified, effective approaches.

Travel for NATO meetings and conferences (up to ~30 days / year).

Specialized Responsibilities (depending on assignment) :

Partner Capabilities (27a) : Drive capability development, align with NDPP and NATO doctrine, and shape integration across emerging domains.

Education Training (27b) : Coordinate with NATO Education Training Facilities and Partner institutions; support accreditation and certification processes.

Concept Development Analysis (27c) : Build partnership strategy frameworks, support out-partnering initiatives, and advise on geopolitical challenges.

Defense Planning (27d) : Lead integration of ITPP PARP military planning, ensuring NATO policy and strategy alignment.

What We’re Looking For

Clearance : Active SECRET clearance (NATO).

Education : Master’s degree (or staff college QF-3+ equivalent) in a relevant field.

Experience : Proven track record in defense / security partnerships, planning, or capability development.

Skills : Strategic communication, policy analysis, multinational coordination.
