Freelance Master Control Operator - Spectrum News
This role involves acting as the quality control for all technical aspects of our news and sports programming. You will work in a fast-paced environment, multitask, and collaborate with the production team to ensure accurate, engaging, informative broadcasts across multiple platforms.
Responsibilities
- Quality control for all technical aspects of news and sports programming
- Audio mixing, video editing, graphic design, closed captions, video quality, and spelling
- Collaborate with the production team to produce accurate, engaging content
- Multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment and monitor for issues that may arise

Experience : 0-2 years in television newsEducation : High School diplomaTechnical skills : Advanced knowledge of broadcast equipment and technology, including standard / high-definition operations, non-linear edit systems, VTRs, server-based recording / playback devices and related software, server networking / transfer technologies, broadcast routers, and intercom panelsSkills : Strong technical aptitude with television control room and studio production technology, automated on-air playout systems, newsroom editorial software, non-linear editing systems, microwave / satellite systems, bonded cellular systems, and router systemsAbilities : Ability to organize and manage shifting priorities under tight deadlines, multi-task, adapt quickly, and handle equipment up to 50 lbsSchedule : Ability to work various shifts, longer shifts, weekends and holidays, and be flexible with schedule changes due to breaking news or severe weatherPreferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline or related field, or comparable television work experienceWorking Conditions

The base pay range for this position is $20.00 / hr - $33.84 / hr. This role requires the ability to work lawfully in the U.S. without employment-based immigration sponsorship, now or in the future. The actual compensation offered will consider skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Spectrum complies with local wage minimums and may offer additional incentive-based compensation such as bonuses.
