Overview
We are hiring an Automotive, Heavy Truck and Equipment Mechanic in San Clemente, CA. Transdev, in partnership with the City of San Clemente, is seeking an experienced Automotive, Heavy Truck, and Equipment Mechanic to keep the city's fleet running safely and reliably. If you have strong diagnostic repair skills and a passion for keeping fleets in top condition, we want you on our team!
Compensation and Benefits
- Competitive compensation package : minimum $34.00 – maximum $45.00 per hour
- $1,500 sign-on bonus offered based on experience and qualifications
- $0.25 premium for each ASE held
- Company-paid ASE testing, training materials
- Vacation : minimum of two (2) weeks
- Sick days : 5 days
- Holidays : 12 days; 8 standard and 4 floating

Key Responsibilities
Perform maintenance and repairs on Class 1 through Class 8 vehicles and equipment in accordance with company and industry standardsInspect, diagnose, service, and repair assigned vehicles and mechanical equipment to ensure safe and reliable operationPerform vehicle upfitting, aftermarket upgrades, and related modifications to ensure systems are properly installed, integrated, and compliant with operational standardsComplete road calls and perform on-the-road repairs as needed to restore vehicle functionality and minimize downtimeRead and interpret safety documents, blueprints, schematics, and other mechanical diagrams to accurately diagnose and perform repairsSupport coworkers, team members and clients by fostering a collaborative work environment and maintaining professional communicationOther duties as assignedQualifications
Must be 21 years or olderMust have a High School diploma, GED or equivalentValid driver's license with a clean driving record; CDL preferredMust provide own mechanic's tools required to perform daily maintenance and repair tasksMinimum of 5 years' experience performing maintenance and repairs on a variety of light- and heavy-duty vehicles and equipmentAutomotive Service Excellence (ASE) certifications required; Master Technician in Automotive and Heavy Truck lines preferredCARB certification required or the ability to obtain one within a specified timeframeExcellent communication skills and ability to clearly convey technical information and collaborate with team members, supervisors, and clientsStrong computer skills, including typing work orders, creating purchase orders, and navigating fleet maintenance software systemsSubject to a DOT physical exam and DOT drug testing. DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 does not authorize the use of Schedule I drugsPhysical Requirements
