Utilizes the nursing process to meeta variety of healthcare needs with ambulatory care as primary focus. Works with a variety of healthcare professionals and security officers in a correctional environment. Frequently functions guided by nursing protocols.

Correctional officers provide security; however, some degree of risk of verbal and physical assault from inmates exists. As in any healthcare setting, employees may be exposed to communicable and / or infectious diseases.
