Why does the job exist?

This position will function as a PRN staff nurse and is responsible for providing nursing care to meet the needs of the patients on assigned unit throughout the hospital and house. Incumbent will be required to work any unit within the following divisions : Adult Psychiatric Division, Long Term Care, Forensic, and Center for Adolescent Relationship Exploration (CARE).

How does it get done?

Incumbent Is responsible for providing direction and guidance to CNAs, and for the implementation and direction of all nursing activities towards common hospital goals.

Ideal Candidate

Ideal candidate will have :

  • Experience in providing comprehensive nursing care.
  • Experience in administration of all types of medications.
  • Experience working with treatment teams.
  • Minimum Qualification

    Must possess a current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in New Mexico, or eligibility for such licensure in accordance with New Mexico requirements, or eligibility for a temporary license issued for employment at a specific institution in New Mexico and three (3) years of experience as it pertains to the essential duties and responsibilities of the classification.

In accordance with all terms and conditions of federal and state law, rules, and regulations in relation to alcohol and / or drug testing. Employment ls subject to nationwide criminal background checks and is conditional pending results.
  • CRIMINAL RECORDS BACKGROUND CHECK-Must successfully complete post offer pre-employment criminal records background check. Employment is conditional pending the results of criminal records background checks. Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license. Successful completion of the Health Insurance Portability & Accountability Act (HIPAA).
  • Working Conditions

    This position will perform work in a hospital and office setting with exposure to Visual / Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Exposure to mentally and behaviorally challenged residents who may exhibit unpredictable and sometimes violent behaviors in volatile situations requiring crisis Intervention may be required. Effective 1 / 1 / 2015, the New Mexico Behavioral Health Institute became a 100% Tobacco Free / E-Cigarette Free Campus. As such, no tobacco, tobacco products or E-Cigarette products are permitted on any part of the campus. Unit is House. Hours are PRN.
