Job Title : RN - Med Surg / Tele

\n Facility : Samaritan Medical Center

\n Shift : 7p-7a, 12-hour shifts, including weekends, holidays, and call

\n Start Date : 01 / 12 / 2025

\n Assignment Length : 13 weeks (initial assignment, with extension potential)

\n\n

Certifications and Licenses :

\n \n

  • Current NY State Registered Nurse License ( Required ) \n
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification ( Required ) \n
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification ( Required ) \n

    What You Bring : \n \n

  • Active licensure as a Registered Nurse in New York State \n
  • Proven experience in medical-surgical or telemetry units, preferably within the past year \n
  • Successful completion of at least one prior traveler assignment; first-time travelers will not be considered \n
  • Strong knowledge of common patient diagnoses such as sepsis, COPD, CHF, post-op care, general Med Surg, plastic surgery recovery, and ALC patients awaiting transfer to nursing homes \n
  • Experience managing drips and medications including Heparin drips, magnesium, potassium (K) riders, and other IV medications \n
  • Ability to perform thorough patient assessments, prioritize patient care, and provide clinical, educational, mental, and spiritual support \n
  • Proficiency in patient safety measures, including proper use of patient lifts and safe patient mobility techniques \n
  • Capacity to work effectively under stress, demonstrating strong problem-solving skills and adaptability \n
  • Leadership abilities with experience in prioritizing tasks, delegating responsibilities, and potentially serving as a charge nurse \n
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills, both written and verbal \n

    Preferred Education & Experience :

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing \n
  • Minimum of 1-year recent experience in an acute care Med Surg or Telemetry setting \n
  • Experience with Meditech electronic health record system \n
