Reentry Support Specialist
The mission of Clark County Jail Services is to promote and maintain public safety through effective correctional and reentry practices. The purpose of the Clark County Jail Reentry Program is to connect incarcerated people releasing or who are likely to release to the local Clark County community with resources to increase desistance behaviors and reduce recidivism. The Reentry Support Specialist is responsible for providing administrative support to the Clark County Jail Reentry Program. The position includes but is not limited to managing an influx of requests from incarcerated people, internal and external stakeholders, coordinating meetings and scheduling Reentry team members, grant reporting and data collection and entry, development of public facing Reentry content and managing multiple computer systems. The Support Specialist III performs the full range of administrative support functions including heavy public contact via phones and in person which is typically a major function of these positions. Duties typically include word processing, data entry, basic math calculations, processing forms and other paperwork, and filing. This is the journey or full working level in the Support Specialist series and requires experience in an administrative support role. Positions in this classification generally are responsible for the more complex administrative support functions and those requiring in-depth expertise in the functions and services of the department. Duties typically include processing of materials, research and analysis, use of various computer applications and other administrative support functions. Support Specialist's III may also be responsible for providing technical assistance and guidance to other branches and county departments.
Qualifications
High school graduate or GED.
United States citizenship or Permanent Resident Alien required.
Two to four years of college or business school training is highly desirable.
Three to five years of responsible and advanced administrative support experience including the full range of office and support functions; multi-line telephone, email and internet, word processing, spreadsheet, database and other computer applications, records management, accounting and others.
Experience in law enforcement, corrections or public services highly desirable. However, this expertise is not required at entry into the classification.
Knowledge of : general office procedures and practices; technical and / or specialized functions, policies and procedures of the work unit; advance knowledge and skills in applicable computer applications; effective business correspondence including spelling, grammar and punctuation.
Ability to : establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships; master the more complex department services and functions; effectively guide and assist other employees; evaluate and improve department service delivery through enhancement of procedures, systems, organizational approaches and record keeping; develop and demonstrate effective customer service techniques; communicate effectively in written form.
Selection Process
Application Review (Pass / Fail) : An on-line application is required. Attaching a resume does not substitute for a completed application; incomplete applications will not pass the application review. Candidates deemed most qualified will be invited to participate in the remainder of the selection process.
First Interview (Pass / Fail based on 70%) : Questions will be job related and may include, but not be limited to, the qualifications outlined in the job announcement. Minimum passing score of 70% is required. The interview will consist of a three-to-four-member interview panel who will ask the same position related, pre-established written questions of all candidates. The panelists' evaluations will be combined resulting in candidate interview scores. Interviews are weighted 100% of the overall score.
Background Investigation : Candidate will undergo a comprehensive background investigation based on a detailed personal history statement (from high school years forward) and interview with a background investigator. Candidates who successfully complete the background investigation will be administered a polygraph examination and a drug test. All offers of employment are contingent on successfully passing the comprehensive background investigation, polygraph examination and drug test.
Selection Interview : Successful candidates may be invited to participate in the final selection interview.
Note : Medical marijuana possession / use, if legally prescribed, is not illegal under the laws of the State of Washington; however, marijuana use and / or possession, even if legally prescribed in Washington, is still unlawful under Federal law. Therefore, Clark County Jail Services does not distinguish between medical marijuana possession / use and illegal marijuana possession / use, both are viewed as unlawful. Therefore, recent use of marijuana may be disqualifying.

Polygraph Examination - Corrections Personnel with access to inmates are required to participate in a Polygraph examination. This exam is based on Background investigation information
Drug Screen - All Criminal Justice agency staff is subject to an employment Drug Screen
