Nealy Pierce has been retained by Salem Health to assist in the recruitment of a Nurse Manager for their Emergency Department. Salem Health is a four-time Magnet-designated Level II Trauma Center and one of the largest acute care hospitals in the State of Oregon. This position will work collaboratively with the entire Critical Care leadership team, reports to the Nurse Director of Emergency & Psych Medicine, and has 190+ FTE's with 5 Assistant Nurse Managers, 20 dedicated Charge Nurses, an Educator, two Operations Supervisors and an Administrative Assistant supporting it.

ER Nurse Manager Responsibilities:

  • Oversee a 100+ bed Emergency Department seeing over 280 patients per day (100k+ visits annually)
  • Create a culture that supports mentoring and shared decision making.
  • Establish and maintain an engaged work culture in which front line employees share in decisions and take ownership for results.
  • Establish targets and processes to monitor programmatic growth, clinical equality and effective operations within the designated unit.
  • With the assistance of assigned financial staff, review periodic financial statements and reports and make changes in resource allocation, spending and other relevant business activities to ensure the financial viability and budget compliance.
  • Understand and use performance management tools for staff and work groups effectively and continually.
  • Teaches the discipline of continuous improvement through example and in all opportunities practices it.
  • Provide timely and thorough performance reviews.

ED Manager Requirements:

  • Masters degree in Nursing preferred, BSN required. Non-BSN candidates with a MSN will be considered
  • Two (2) years of progressive leadership experience in the Emergency Room preferred
  • Three (3) years of clinical / bedside nursing experience in the Emergency Department required
