Shelby Electric Cooperative (SEC)

Full-Time | Monday–Friday, 7 : 00 a.m. – 4 : 00 p.m.

(Occasional overtime may be required)

Shelby Electric Cooperative is seeking a qualified and motivated Broadband Technician to join our team. This full-time position plays a key role in the installation, maintenance, and repair of broadband systems for our members.

Minimum Education & Experience

High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required

Ability to quickly learn basic installation principles

Licenses & Certifications

Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record

Forklift certification required

Non-Physical Requirements

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills for customer interaction

Willingness to work regular hours as well as weekends or after-hours when needed to meet deadlines

Physical Requirements

Ability to work in confined spaces, including crawl spaces

Ability to climb towers / structures up to 275 feet

Able to work outdoors in various weather conditions

Manual dexterity, visual acuity, and effective listening and communication skills

Ability to :

Stand and walk consistently

Frequently sit, bend, stoop, squat, lift and carry 75–100 lbs., push / pull, reach above shoulder level, and twist

Occasionally climb, balance, kneel, and crouch

Constant awareness of surroundings to identify hazards while working

Safety Sensitive Position

This role is classified as safety sensitive .

Essential Job Duties

Install, maintain, and repair broadband systems

Troubleshoot internet and connectivity issues for members

Assist in training new employees on installation and repair processes

Complete all required paperwork accurately and on time

Resolve customer concerns within assigned authority

Track daily time and materials to proper accounts

Maintain tools, equipment, and safe working conditions

Store and assist with inventory of broadband materials

Support infrastructure maintenance and repairs at tower sites

Assist in scheduling and routing installation and repair work

Serve as backup for the Broadband Account Representative when needed

Participate in fairs, parades, and community events to promote broadband and member services
