Position Overview

Are you ready to transition from drafting designs to architecting the digital backbone of the modern built environment? We are seeking a Senior Technology Designer to serve as a high-impact consultant and technical visionary. In this role, you will move beyond standard implementation to lead complex, project-facing initiatives involving structured cabling, audiovisual, and security systems. You will act as the primary bridge between client needs and engineering excellence, ensuring that technology isn't just an add-on, but a seamless, integrated component of every structure.

Core Responsibilities

• Consultative Leadership: Lead high-level user needs analysis and client consultations to translate complex operational requirements into innovative technology solutions.

• Integrated System Design: Architect comprehensive technology packages, including structured cabling, high-density wireless, audiovisual, and electronic security systems.

• Multidisciplinary Synergy: Orchestrate design coordination with internal and external MEP, structural, and civil teams to ensure perfect system alignment.

• Project Stewardship: Manage the lifecycle of technology-specific project scopes, maintaining rigorous control over deliverables from conceptual design through construction administration.

• Operational Excellence: Drive the evolution of the firm’s design assets, production workflows, and internal standards to maintain a competitive edge in the AEC market.

• Mentorship & Influence: Cultivate the next generation of talent by providing hands-on technical guidance and professional mentorship to junior technology designers.

• Technical Oversight: Perform expert field troubleshooting and systems analysis to ensure final installations meet the firm’s exacting standards of engineering excellence.

Required Qualifications

• Experience: 5+ years of dedicated experience designing building technology systems across diverse market sectors.

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology preferred.

• Licensure/Certification: Active RCDD (Registered Communications Distribution Designer) and/or CTS (Certified Technology Specialist) required.

• Technical Proficiency: Mastery of construction means and methods related to low-voltage technology systems and high-fidelity construction documentation.

• Authorization: Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications

• Manufacturer Expertise: Advanced certifications in Crestron, AMX, QSC, Biamp, or Extron.

• Project Management: Proven experience managing technology-only scopes within a larger multidisciplinary AEC environment.

• Advanced Troubleshooting: Demonstrated ability to perform complex systems field analysis and resolution.
