Unit Overview :
Join our 24-bed Neurosurgical Unit , where you will care for a diverse and complex patient population, including :
Post-operative craniotomies for bleed evacuation, AVMs, and tumor resectionsCervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine surgeriesHemorrhagic and ischemic stroke patients as part of our Comprehensive Stroke ProgramA high volume of cervical and spinal surgery patients along with medical overflow casesAs part of the Aurora Neuroscience Innovation Institute (ANII) , our unit offers exposure to the latest neurosurgical techniques and cutting-edge care.

Use the nursing process to assess patient needs, plan individualized interventions, and evaluate care effectivenessAnticipate and recognize significant changes in patient conditions and collaborate with healthcare team membersImplement safety strategies and assess learning readiness for patients and familiesCoordinate the discharge plan utilizing an interdisciplinary approachProvide ongoing evaluation of patient and unit outcomes and take action when changes are neededDemonstrate effective communication and collaboration with the healthcare teamPromote a culture of safety and report patient safety events promptlyApply ethical decision-making and participate in quality improvement initiativesEngage in professional development and strive for personal growthMaintain knowledge of age-specific care and apply necessary assessmentsLicensure, Registration, and / or Certification Required :
Registered Nurse license issued by the stateBasic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification from AHAEducation Required :
