Position : American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreter

Rate : Up to $51 / hour

Work Setup : only required to come to school 30 days per school year

What You'll Do :

As our ASL Interpreter, you'll be a crucial link in ensuring clear communication between hearing and Deaf or hard-of-hearing individuals. Your responsibilities will include :

• Accurate Interpretation : Providing accurate and impartial interpretation services from spoken English to American Sign Language (ASL) and from ASL to spoken English.
• Diverse Settings : Interpreting in diverse environments, including classrooms, meetings, conferences, and other events.
• Accessibility : Ensuring clear communication for individuals with varying levels of ASL proficiency.
• Ethical Conduct : Maintaining confidentiality and adhering to the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) code of professional conduct.
• Adaptability : Adapting interpretations to accommodate different signing styles and regional sign variations.
• Clarification : Clarifying and explaining concepts as needed while maintaining the integrity of the message.
• Inclusive Environment : Assisting in creating an inclusive and accessible environment for Deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals.
• Professional Growth : Engaging in professional development to stay updated on best practices in ASL interpreting and Deaf culture.
