Responsibilities Position is in an acute care Neuro Stepdown and Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU) Unit has 31 beds : 25 Stepdown and 6 EMU Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1 : 3 for stepdown and 1 : 5-6 for floor (EMU) Handles higher acuity neuroscience patients, including strokes, seizures, EMU, and post-craniotomies Stepdown unit with specialized monitoring and frequent use of titratable drips Night shifts : three 12-hour shifts, 7 : 00 pm–7 : 30 am, with weekend and holiday rotation Possibility of floating to 7E, 7W, 7NE, or 10W Uses Epic EMR; prior Epic experience required Responsibilities include caring for high-acuity neuroscience patients and managing stepdown and EMU cases RNs are not required to read telemetry strips; monitor techs available Unit-supported by 24 / 7 charge nurse and respiratory team Travelers required to wear royal blue scrubs Two-shift unit-specific orientation provided No local travelers : candidates must live more than 50 miles from the facility Former permanent employees and past travelers at any WVU Medicine location must have a two-year gap before reapplying Travelers are expected to participate in the holiday rotation Requirements Active WV or compact RN license required Minimum 2 years of strong neuro RN experience Current BLS certification required NIHSS certification required Epic charting experience required Experience with titratable drips such as Amiodarone, Cardizem, Nitro, dopamine, Nipride, Ketamine, Lasix, Bumex, Insulin COVID vaccination required, with medical or religious exemptions considered Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-633201.
