Job Summary

Mercury Systems is seeking the best and brightest talent to help us bring cutting-edge technology to mission-critical aerospace and defense applications, advancing innovation where it matters most. The Assembly Technician assembles Mercury products per customer specifications. The Technician will work with drawings and process flow, identify quality and reliability issues including coming up with solutions to resolve the issues.

Job Responsibilities

  • Assemble Mercury products in accordance with documented work instructions to ensure the units meet specifications, tolerances, and customer requirements.
  • Accountable for producing quality work to prescribed standards, with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Interpret assembly drawings and process flow instructions.
  • Resolve most questions and problems, referring only the most complex issues to higher levels.
  • Identify quality and reliability issues and submit recommendations for improvements.
  • Develop personal goals and objectives for continuous improvement in support of Company and Department goals and objectives.
  • Maintain workplace organization.
  • Perform a wide variety of electrical / mechanical operations on components, sub-assemblies and assemblies.
  • Perform a number of repetitive electro / mechanical assembly operations utilizing microscopes, soldering irons, screwdrivers and an assortment of small hand tools.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Typically requires less than one year of soldering / basic mechanical / electronic assembly experience.
  • Must be comfortable working with screwdrivers and an assortment of small hand tools.
  • Basic computer skills such as Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Must be willing to work overtime as necessary.
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with soldering irons and / or microscope preferred.
  • Vocational school or secondary education in electronics technology.
  • Aerospace / Aviation experience.
  • Physical Demands

  • Constantly move objects and use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue. Specific abilities required by the job include positioning oneself to lift or move objects weighing up to 40 lbs.
  • Constant movement and use of limbs. Specific abilities required by this job include prolonged sitting, twisting and working under a microscope for long periods of time will be required. Occasional standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, climbing, and gripping is required daily.
  • Frequently observe, detect, discern, and convey information. Specific abilities required by this job include near, far and color vision acuity, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • Requires good manual dexterity, coordination, and stamina. Ability to safely control surgical razor blades and small hand tools used to manipulate tuning stub under a microscope. Specific abilities required by this job include the frequent requirement of overtime work.
