Medical Receptionist
Townsen Memorial Hospital is hiring for a full-time Medical Receptionist to join our Surgery Center located in Houston, Texas 77072.
The Medical Receptionist is responsible for greeting patients, scheduling appointments, performing clerical duties, and providing medical procedural support. The Medical Receptionist exhibits professionalism while answering inquiries and providing information to the general public, visitors, patients, and other interested parties regarding activities conducted at establishment and location of departments, offices, and employees within the organization.
Essential Functions :
- Greet patients as they arrive at facility and provide appropriate information
- Ensures all vendors and visitors are signed in and processed according to facility policy
- Assist patients to complete all necessary forms and documentation, ensure completeness and accuracy
- Update patients' information into database and logs all demographics in EMR system
- Maintain patient accounts by obtaining, recording, and updating personal and financial information into e-clinical
- Obtain revenue by recording and updating financial information, recording and collecting patient charges
- Move patients through appointments as scheduled, notify provider of patient arrival
- Answer telephone, assist with inquiries, direct calls and messages to appropriate medical office staff
- Respond and comply to requests for information including sending faxes and e-mails
- Update appointment calendars, schedule and reschedule patients' appointments
- Support medical staff by completing administrative requirements
- Call patients and remind them of their appointments
- Keep patients' family's informed of patient status
- Manage filing and record keeping activities
- Create and label appropriate charts for patient's, obtain all necessary documents related to the patient chart
- Ensure reception area is well maintained, neat and clean, including the magazines
- Follow all safety rules, report all accidents promptly and corrects minor safety hazards
- Communicate with peers and management regarding any hazards identified in the workplace
- Adhere to the company standards of business conduct, and protect patient and family privacy rights
- Maintain confidentiality of patient records in accordance with policy, procedure and HIPAA requirements
- Report statistics as required
- Coordinates mail flow in and out of office
- Maintain stock of forms and office supplies
- Performs other related duties as assigned
