Job Title : Phlebotomist I
Job Description
The primary role of a Phlebotomist I is to support various tasks, including troubleshooting, training, and recommending workflow improvements. This role involves performing blood draws, labeling specimens, and ensuring proper maintenance and decontamination procedures.
Responsibilities
Perform blood draws using straight needles and / or butterfly needles.
Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders.
Explain the venipuncture and specimen collection processes clearly and courteously to patients.
Collect and store specimens following established procedures.
Ensure specimens are packaged for transport and stored at the required temperature.
Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes and check test requisitions against scripts.
Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.
Participate in annual department training sessions.
Answer telephone inquiries and provide laboratory results as needed.
Essential Skills
1-2 years of recent experience in phlebotomy.
Experience in pediatric to geriatric blood draws.
Strong customer service skills.
Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Work Environment
The position is currently based at a Labcorp Patient Service Center (PSC). The work schedule is Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM, on a contract basis.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract position based out of Gainesville, GA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $17.75 - $18.50 / hr.
