Associate General Counsel, Energy

A company is looking for an Associate General Counsel, Origination & Commercial to provide legal support for utility-scale standalone storage projects across North America.

Key Responsibilities

Partner with the Origination and Commercial Team in negotiating offtake agreements and conducting due diligence on M&A opportunities

Review requests for proposals and develop comprehensive bid submittals, incorporating feedback from subject matter experts

Oversee Outside Counsel on select transactions and assist in the selection of such counsel

Required Qualifications

J.D. degree is required

Minimum 3-4 years of experience at a top-tier law firm in renewable energy project development

At least 1-2 years of in-house legal experience with a renewable energy developer or utility, focusing on resource procurement and M&A

Experience in negotiating power purchase agreements and structuring project-scale M&A transactions

Knowledge of project finance structures and their implications on project development and M&A transactions
