State Fire Marshal Lieutenant
This position is located in Area 1- Enforcement, only open to permanent State Fire Marshal employees. Domicile is TBD, but will be based in Area 1. As a State Fire Marshal Lieutenant, the incumbent ensures reports and programs meet performance expectations, oversees program support functions assigned, and provides mentoring and peer review to co-workers and subordinates. Lieutenants also provide leadership in the absence of the State Fire Marshal Captain when needed.
Selected preferred competencies include : accepting direction, adapting to change, demonstrating initiative, displaying professionalism, leading change, managing conflict, managing performance, managing time, solving problems, and training others.
Minimum qualifications include five years of experience in a criminal justice field, arson / criminal / fire investigations or inspections, a fire service field, building codes enforcement, a building construction field, architecture, occupational safety, or an engineering field; or an associate's degree in any field plus four years of experience in the aforementioned fields; or an associate's degree in a criminal justice field, a fire service field, a construction field, architecture, or an engineering field plus three years of experience in the aforementioned fields; or a bachelor's degree in any field plus two years of experience in the aforementioned fields; or a bachelor's degree in a criminal justice field, a fire service field, a building construction field, architecture, occupational safety, or an engineering field plus one year of experience in the aforementioned fields.
Job duties may include serving as lead worker, trainer, or mentor over lower-level deputies; working on special projects as assigned; and conducting the most complex inspections and investigations requiring special certifications.
The location of this position is to be determined. The salary offered will be determined based on qualifications and experience. The bi-weekly rate for this position is $2,161.60.
