Electrical Design Engineer

Overview

Electrical Design Engineer at VanTran Transformers. A member of the technical staff, the Electrical Design Engineer is responsible for the design of new transformers up to full production. This includes specification reviews, design reviews, mechanical designs, customer submittal packages, pre-production builds and transfers to production. The Electrical Design Engineer is also responsible for technical support of in-production transformers throughout the manufacturing process.

Responsibilities

• Daily On-Site Attendance.
• Performs various engineering tasks involving design, development, preparation of electrical and mechanical drawings, technical support, and assistance in testing.
• Designs liquid-filled distribution-type transformers through electrical and mechanical interpretation of purchase specifications.
• Performs optimized calculations and computations to plan and implement specific transformer design procedures.
• Analyzes and develops wire schematic diagrams.
• Interacts with customers to resolve technical issues.
• Creates test reports and leads witness testing.
• Assists Sales & Marketing Team with transformer designs for quoting purposes.
• Creates Bill of Materials in NetSuite.
• Assists Supply Chain Management with the purchasing of transformer parts and materials.
• Inspects the transformer throughout the manufacturing process and coordinates any necessary design revisions with the appropriate Manufacturing department.
• Participates in project teams and all activities related to the development of new products.

Position Type and Hours

This is a full-time position, and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8 : 00am to 5 : 00pm. Depending on workload there may be occasional longer days and occasional weekends as needed. Employee is expected to work the hours necessary to timely and satisfactorily complete all tasks.

Travel

Regular travel is not required for this position.
