    • About Locum Neurologist Jobs :

    This is a generalized description of locum neurologist job requirements. Specific assignment details may vary based on the healthcare facility, geographic location, patient population and types of neurological services provided.

    General Job Responsibilities :

  • Evaluate, diagnose and treat patients with neurological disorders, including epilepsy, stroke, neurodegenerative diseases and multiple sclerosis.
  • Perform and interpret diagnostic tests such as EEGs, EMGs and lumbar punctures.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement patient care plans.
  • Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary.
  • Provide emergency care and manage critical situations effectively.
  • Maintain accurate and thorough medical records.

    • Skills :

  • Comprehensive knowledge of neurological diseases and disorders, and their diagnostic and therapeutic approaches.
  • Ability to interpret complex neurological data.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in performing and interpreting neurological assessments and procedures.
  • Collaborative skills to work effectively with a multidisciplinary team.
  • Flexibility to adapt to new work environments and different medical teams.

    • Minimum Education Requirements :

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited medical school.
  • Residency training program in neurology accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) or the American Osteopathic Association (AOA).
  • Fellowship in a subspecialty of neurology may be required.

    • License & Certifications :

  • Board certification in neurology by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN) or the American Osteopathic Board of Neurology and Psychiatry (AOBNP).
  • Active and unrestricted medical license in Oregon.

    • Experience :

  • While specific requirements may vary, most locum neurologist positions prefer candidates with at least one year of experience providing care in a clinical setting.

    • Additional Notes :

  • Locum tenens neurologist positions are temporary assignments, often lasting weeks or months, to address staffing shortages in hospitals, surgical centers or other healthcare facilities.
