Logistics & Warehousing Operations Manager
Inside the role, the Logistics & Warehousing Operations Manager is accountable for end-to-end outbound fulfillment at the Canton Parts Distribution Center (PDC). This role owns pick-and-pack accuracy, inventory flow, and outbound shipping performance across a 7-day operating model that services both internal PDCs and external dealers. Leading a team of customer-fulfillment supervisors, shipping coordinators, and warehousing associates, the manager safeguards product quality, drives on-time delivery, and continuously improves logistics cost-to-serve. Success requires data-driven decision-making, Lean warehousing expertise, and hands-on leadership to ensure the right part ships on time-every time.
Position offers a starting salary range of $95,000 - $121,000 USD. Pay offered dependent on knowledge, skills, and experience. What You Drive
- Outbound Pick-and-Pack Excellence Champion 99.8 % order-line accuracy through robust SOPs, scan compliance, and error-proofing.
- Lead daily pick-pack operations, coaching supervisors on labor balancing, wave planning, and quality checks.
- Own root-cause analysis of outbound errors; deploy corrective actions and training to prevent recurrence.
- Inventory Flow & Storage Optimization Design slotting strategies, velocity zoning, and storage layouts that maximize space utilization and ergonomic safety.
- Partner with Inventory Reliability and Kitting teams to synchronize inbound replenishment with outbound demand.
- Oversee cycle-count touchpoints within fulfillment areas to protect inventory accuracy.
- 7-Day Shipping Model Execution Build staffing models, wave schedules, and carrier cut-off times that guarantee performance for all seven operating days.
- Monitor dock throughput, carrier dwell time, and trailer utilization; escalate barriers to on-time departure.
- Ensure weekend operations (customer fulfillment and opportunistic cross-docks) are seamlessly integrated with weekday flows.
- Logistics Performance & Continuous Improvement Analyze pick-rate, dock-to-door, and cost-per-line metrics to identify waste and drive productivity gains.
- Implement Lean projects-layout redesign, standard work, visual controls-to boost throughput and lower cost.
- Maintain compliance with Daimler safety, quality, and financial controls for all warehousing processes.
- Cost Optimization & Carrier Collaboration Develop transportation strategies that balance cost, speed, and service reliability (e.g., pool points, multi-stop routes).
- Negotiate spot-buys or premium freight decisions in partnership with Transportation Management and Finance.
- Track freight claims and carrier scorecards; lead corrective actions for service failures.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration & Customer Impact Coordinate with other PDC managers, Procurement, and Supply Chain Engineering to resolve systemic flow constraints.
- Interface with Customer Experience, DPMs, and dealer personnel to quickly resolve escalations and communicate status.
- Align outbound capacity planning with kitting, packaging, and inventory teams to eliminate bottlenecks.
