Registered Nurse (RN) Extended Recovery - Days (Full-Time 36hrs)

Position Summary : The Extended Recovery RN, s responsible for providing high-quality patient-centered care to post-operative orthopedic patients requiring extended recovery or overnight care. This role involves monitoring patient conditions, managing pain, preventing complications, encouraging early mobility, preparing patients for their discharge home, and ensuring a safe recovery process. The Extended Recovery nurse will work closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, hospitalists, nurse navigators, and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient outcomes and maintain safety standards.

Three (3) 12-hour shifts per week 6 : 45a - 7 : 15p + built in weekend and holiday rotation

Position Requirements

Education : Graduate of an accredited school / college of nursing required. Bachelor's degree preferred.

Licensure : Registered Nursing licensed in the State of Nebraska or eligible compact state required.

Certification : Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification (ACLS) to be acquired within 90 days of hire or transfer date required.

Experience : 1+ Years of RN (Registered Nurse) Experience preferred.

Required Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

• Strong knowledge of post-operative orthopedic care, including pain management and mobility assistance
• Proficiency in IV therapy, wound care, patient assessment, and vital sign monitoring
• Ability to recognize and respond to complications including respiratory distress and infection
• Excellent communication and patient education skills
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
• Proficiency in electronic medical records (EMR) and documentation of patient assessments and interventions
• Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills

Physical requirements : This position is classified as Medium Work in the Dictionary of Occupational Titles, requiring the exertion of 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and / or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and / or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
