Planning Supervisor
Manages the facility's master production schedule through directing the purchase and on time delivery of raw materials, shop traveler generation, and inventory flow through manufacturing operations. The Planning Manager coordinates with Sales, Engineering, Quality, and other departments to ensure on time delivery of forgings to the customer.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities :
- Reviews master schedule for all production travelers scheduled to start and establishes priorities to meet shipping dates according to customer delivery requirements. Ensures the purchase and delivery of raw materials to facilitate on time production release.
- Supervises and trains planners, audits traveler documents, and develops a Master Schedule in conjunction with Engineering, Metallurgy, Quality and Production requirements.
- Monitors conversion yield results and evaluate any anomalies. Reports any significant trends to management for evaluation and takes a lead in developing effective corrective actions.
- Responsible for quotation review to assure customer requirements are met and quality review of in-house form (QA-180). Attends new order kick-off meetings and first article review meetings to present status of master traveler, last production traveler release and obtain information for master traveler revision to improve production.
- Assigns duties and examines work for exactness, neatness, and conformance to policies and procedures. Studies and standardized procedures to improve efficiency of department.
- Initiates meetings with Engineering, Manufacturing, Metallurgy and Quality to develop optimum process in the planning stage of new orders.
- Utilizes Shultz Pro program conversion data to plan an ingot reduction (material type, using ingot size ratio, surface condition or process requirements) to determine or improve conversion yield. Utilize Shultz Pro program mult chart data to improve billet utilization and reduce end loss scrap.
- Provides daily, weekly, and monthly reporting to management on status of key planning KPIs Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Company's policies and applicable laws as department responsibilities are assigned.
- Directly supervises 5-10 employees in the Planning department. Responsibilities include interviewing and hiring, training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
- All other duties as assigned.
Required Skills :
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.Ability to speak effectively before groups of supervisors and employees of the organization.Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations.Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.Computer literate in Word processers, spread sheets, technical data search and personal data organizers..Experience & Education :
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university;Five to Eight years training in a forging manufacturing environment; orAt least Ten years' experience in manufacturing, engineering and / or metallurgical industries.Physical Demands :
