Position Summary
Provides services in the decontamination and sterile processing areas whenever monitoring of sterilizers is needed. Collaborates with OR staff to provide sterile instruments and equipment needed for operative procedures. Assists with ongoing inventory of sterile supplies, equipment, schedule completion and communication for the department. Position performs duties in an independent manner with little or no supervision. Call may be required for this position - must reside within a 30 minute call time of the facility.
Must perform repetitive duties on a daily basis, be detail-minded and organized. Must be self-motivated and able to coordinate and prioritize workload in order to complete work and meet daily deadlines. Ability to adapt to changes in workload and flexibility to adjust work scheduled as assigned. Ability to communicate effectively with customers. Knowledge of aseptic and sterile techniques. Thorough knowledge of instrumentation, equipment and supplies.
Qualifications : Education :
1. High school diploma or equivalent
2. Certification from an approved CSS technician program (CBSPD, CRCST or CSPDT)
Experience :
One (1) year experience as CST technician preferred
Preferred Experience :
One year of Central Sterile, decontamination or sterile processing in an acute care hospital.
Required Certifications : BLS.
