Technician Trainee – Entry-Level Property Maintenance & Exterior Cleaning

Location: Norfolk, VA

HomeSmiles Virginia Beach is hiring Technicians who want a hands-on, outdoor job where you’ll learn valuable skills in property maintenance, exterior cleaning, and preventative home care. Whether you're looking for a technician position, coming from grounds maintenance, or want to explore a path into the trades, this is the job for you.


We provide paid training, all necessary tools, and a direct path to a leadership role. If you’re mechanically inclined, reliable, and enjoy working outdoors, this entry-level technician role is your first step toward a real trade career.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities – What You’ll Be Doing:
  • Start your day by prepping and cleaning your HomeSmiles service van, restocking tools and equipment
  • Use your mobile tablet to check your route and scheduled appointments
  • Meet with homeowners or property managers to confirm service details
  • Identify equipment issues and troubleshoot hoses, pumps, ladders, and sprayers
  • Track and maintain tool inventory and alert team lead when replacements are needed
  • Perform services in a timely and professional manner.
What You’ll Need to Succeed:
  • Experience in operating pressure washing systems, installing gutter systems, inspecting HVAC or tank/tankless water heaters and minor plumbing/electrical tasks.
  • Prior experience in sales, door-to-door canvassing, or customer-facing service roles with proven ability to upsell.
  • OSHA or trade certifications are a plus.
  • Military or veteran experience highly valued.
