Education: Graduate from an accredited program for medical assistants.
Experience/Qualifications: BLS certification through the American Heart Association for Healthcare Providers. Medical Assistance Certification preferred. Minimum of one year experience in a medical office setting preferred. Must have experience in medical assisting. Experience as a medical assistant, patient care skills, examination, diagnostic, and treatment room procedures. Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment. Must possess computer skills and customer service skills. Detail oriented and self-motivated.
Position Summary: The Medical Assistant is a multi-skilled specialist who assists the physician in all aspects of the medical practice under the direct responsibility of the physician. Responsibilities include assisting with the patient care management, executes administrative and clinical procedures, and performs supervisory functions pertaining to position. Competency requires that the medical assistant adheres to ethical and legal standards of professional practice, recognize and respond to emergencies, and demonstrates professional characteristics.
Vital signs, preparing patients for examination, entering lab and imaging orders, collecting and preparing laboratory specimens, updating patient medical records, answering phones, scheduling appointments, removing sutures and dressings, transmitting prescription refills, performs other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements: Requires sitting for long periods of time, also stooping, bending, standing, and stretching. Must have manual dexterity for typing and computer data entry. Able to work under a stressful environment, work independently, capable of making sound decisions, be detail oriented, alert, and self-motivated. Ability to push/pull up to 40lbs., carry and lift up to 20lbs.
