American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Level I Trauma Emergency Department position with Cerner EMR experience and night shift requirements.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Work in an acute care hospital Emergency Department with Level I Trauma designationAssignment is 13 weeks with 12-hour night shiftsCare for a diverse patient population, including trauma, burns, and cardiac cases; pediatric patients are transferred outAverage patient ratio is 1 : 4 in a department serving approximately 250–300 patients dailyUnit includes 36 acute and 54 subacute beds with 6 trauma bays (no travelers assigned to trauma bays)Required to work 4 weekend shifts per month and 2 out of 4 major holidaysFloat between main campus, Westgate, and two freestanding ERs as needed, with potential for mid-shift floatingUses Cerner EMR; recent Cerner experience is requiredPhillips telemetry monitors are used; must be able to read stripsTeam includes charge RNs, PCTs, RT and pharmacy available around the clockOrientation includes SIMs Lab for skill validation, and 2–3 shifts of floor orientationResponsible for triaging, assessing, and caring for acute emergency and trauma patients in a high-volume environmentConduct regular telemetry monitoring and must demonstrate competency in reading stripsCollaborate as part of a multidisciplinary trauma team with physicians, midlevels, RT, and pharmacy on-siteSIMs Lab is pass / fail, with strong emphasis on sterile technique; breaking sterile field may result in terminationFirst-time travelers are not accepted for this assignmentPast employees of CommonSpirit-affiliated facilities within the last year are not eligibleNavy scrubs are required for this roleMust have own transportation to float between campus locations\n \n Requirements\n
Active AZ or compact RN license required at time of considerationMinimum of 2 years of Emergency Department RN experienceAt least 1 year of Level I Trauma experience as permanent staff and / or as a traveler (will consider 8+ months)Current certifications required : BLS, ACLS, and PALS (ENPC does not substitute for PALS)TNCC and ATCN certifications are preferredExperience with Cerner EMR is required and must be recentMust pass a pass / fail dysrhythmia exam prior to accepting the position; two attempts allowedSIMs Lab skill check in Foley catheter and port-a-cath insertion required on day one of orientationDriver’s license used to verify residency; must live at least 50 miles from the facilityNo facial piercings and natural hair color required; men must be clean-shaven for fit testingReferences from a supervisor within the past 12 months and from a peer or supervisor in the past 3 years\n Benefits\n
