Asphalt Plant Operator
This position involves operating the asphalt plant efficiently and effectively to maximize production while maintaining a safe work environment at all times. Responsibilities include ensuring a safe work environment in compliance with all safety policies and procedures using the appropriate tools and equipment for the task. The operator loader will receive incoming raw materials and maintain inventory levels and stockpiles. The role also involves assisting plant management in ordering materials needed for plant operation, operating plant equipment to regulate the flow of materials to and from conveyors, chutes, pumps, and storage bins, performing repairs as needed to plant equipment and performing preventative maintenance in order to keep the plant running, assisting plant management with record keeping and daily production schedules for submitting reports on production and maintenance, and performing a variety of tasks assisting with the operation of the plant, including using hand tools, cleaning, washing, sweeping, and shoveling materials.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities required include being safety-oriented and exhibiting safe work habits, being self-motivated and eager to learn new skills, performing well in a team environment, ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency, willingness to work hours associated with the asphalt industry, including overtime and weekends as needed, ability to follow verbal and written instructions, basic mathematical skills, and passing a pre-employment physical and drug screen.
Minimum education and experience required include 1-3 years of experience operating heavy equipment, experience in the asphalt industry preferred, and a high school diploma or equivalent experience. Membership with the International Union of Operating Engineers Local Union No, 9 is required upon hire. Condition and terms of employment and benefits are in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement.
