Spyglass Talent Solutions, a retained recruitment firm, has been engaged by Tideline Boats to conduct a search for a Lamination Supervisor.
Tideline Boats, founded in 2010, is a boat manufacturer based in Wilmington, North Carolina. The company specializes in high-performance fiberglass catamaran fishing boats that combine the aesthetics of a custom vessel with the superior ride and handling of a catamaran hull. Tideline is expanding its operations by bringing manufacturing in-house, marking an exciting new chapter in the company's growth and craftsmanship.
The Lamination Supervisor will oversee fiberglass lamination operations within Tideline's new manufacturing facility. This is a hands-on leadership role suited for an experienced laminator who is ready to step into a supervisory position. The Supervisor will lead a team of 4-6 laminators, oversee the entire process of vacuum infusion of fiberglass parts and components, manage schedules and materials, and ensure the quality, consistency, and efficiency of all lamination processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead fiberglass lamination and vacuum infusion operations for Tideline's 23-, 28-, and 36-foot models.
- Establish and maintain lamination schedules to meet production goals.
- Oversee the entire vacuum infusion process, from mold preparation and material lay-up to resin infusion and final product inspection.
- Diagnose and resolve technical issues that arise on the production floor, such as resin flow problems or vacuum leaks.
- Train, supervise, and support a team of 4-6 laminators to achieve consistent, high-quality results.
- Oversee material selection and use, including resins, fiberglass, gel coats, and core materials.
- Operate and maintain lamination tools and equipment, including gel coat sprayers and chopper guns.
- Collaborate closely with the Plant Manager and Rigging Supervisor to coordinate production workflows.
- Maintain safety standards and ensure a clean, organized work environment.
- Uphold Tideline's quality and craftsmanship standards throughout the production process.
Skills and Experience
Significant experience in fiberglass lamination within the boatbuilding or marine industry :to accurately apply chopped fiberglass strands and catalyzed resin to molds.to apply an even and high-quality finish coat (gel coat) to the molds prior to lamination.to apply catalyzed resin mixtures for various lamination stages, ensuring proper material saturation.as needed, including rolling and squeegeeing materials to ensure proper wet-out and to remove air voids.(pressure, flow rate, catalyst ratio) of lamination equipment to achieve optimal material application and quality.by cleaning, waxing, or applying mold release agents.on all spraying equipment (chopper guns, spray heads, pumps, etc.) to ensure longevity and consistent performance.Strong knowledge of vacuum infusion processes and composite materials.Ability to set, manage, and meet production schedules.Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision.Effective leadership and communication skills with a collaborative mindset.Prior supervisory experience is preferred but not required
