The Role

The Material Handler will be responsible for handling materials required for production, line setup, preparation and crating in the assembly department.

Core Responsibilities

To perform the job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

• Delivery and setup of materials for production / assembly
• Understand department workflow, processes, and assembly requirements
• Operate all types of material handling equipment such as : forklift trucks, hoists, and / or pump trucks as directed
• Mark materials and / or containers being moved to assist in identification
• Additional duties and responsibilities may be required based on organizational needs
• Records amounts of materials or items received or distributed.
• Weighs or counts items for distribution within plant to ensure conformance to company standards.
• Uses computer to enter records.
• Drives material handling equipment to transport stored items.
• Loads and unloads trailers of palletized and non-palletized product.
• Utilizes manual and automated material handling equipment.
• Practices and adheres to appropriate safety and hygiene guidelines / procedures for safe
• Contributes to division results and performance.
• Take care of internal and external customer needs and expectations.

Qualifications

Day in the Life

In this role, the working environment is a combination of hot and cold with exposure to elements such as : noise, dust, and brightly lit areas and the physical demands may include but not limited to regularly lifting and / or moving up to 35 pounds, standing for long periods, and occasionally stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
