Weekend day shift : Friday, Saturday, and Sunday 7am - 7pm.

Unit Summary

Welcome to SMC's Inpatient Oncology unit! Our 30-bed unit, located on the first floor of Gibbs Cancer Center, is dedicated to providing exceptional care. Each room is private and includes accommodations for family members, ensuring a supportive environment. We offer specialized rooms with negative / positive pressure airflow and facilities for patients receiving radiation implants. A family room is available for confidential consultations with healthcare teams, and a kitchen is provided for families. Our primary focus is on patients with end-stage illnesses, end-of-life needs, cancer, and hematologic diagnoses. We also provide care to patients receiving chemotherapy and radiation implants.

Position Summary

The Acute Care Registered Nurse (RN) provides inpatient nursing care to patients in compliance with the SC Nurse Practice Act and organization protocols, policies, procedures, and guidelines. The RN demonstrates clinical competency utilizing evidence-based practices and research in all areas of the nursing process : assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation, and outcomes. The RN demonstrates thorough knowledge of therapeutic patient care, patient advocacy, clinical pathways / care maps, team dynamics, hospital systems, and serves as a resource for support associates. The RN will collaborate with leadership in developing and implementing the Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System's culture, Mission, Vision, and Values. Associates are encouraged to engage and support Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System's involvement in the communities we serve.

We’re seeking an experienced RN to take on a leadership role as Charge Nurse. In this position, you’ll oversee daily operations on your unit, providing guidance and support to the care team while ensuring high-quality, patient-centered care. Responsibilities include coordinating staffing, managing workflow, and serving as a clinical resource for your peers. Requires a current RN license and a minimum of two years of nursing experience. Strong leadership and critical thinking skills are essential.

The Weekend Staffing Team (WST) is similar to a Baylor position. It provides additional compensation to ensure weekend coverage. A Level III WST RN will work 36 hours per week (Day shift F / S / S). For the Saturday and Sunday shifts, you are paid a $20 / hr WST premium on top of your base rate. That is in addition to the standard premiums.
