The West Allis Municipal Water Utility is looking for an Accounting Specialist to take the lead on utility billing, financial support, and customer service. This is a hybrid role that blends numbers, systems, and peopleperfect for someone who thrives on variety and values accuracy.
What You'll Do :
- Own the Billing Process : Ensure timely, accurate billing for water, sewer, storm water, and waste services.
- Be the System Pro : Manage and troubleshoot the utility billing system, review meter data, and resolve discrepancies.
- Support Our Customers : Answer questions, explain billing and regulations, and handle sensitive issues with care.
- Keep the Books in Order : Enter invoices, run reports, and maintain clean, accurate financial records.
- Lead Collections : Set up payment plans, send notices, and manage delinquent accounts with professionalism.
- Coordinate Operations : Schedule service appointments, create work orders, and issue permits to contractors.
Additional Key Responsibilities :
Accurately prepare, review, and bill over 19,000 utility accounts in compliance with PSC regulations, including meter reading dates, billing cycles, penalties, and adjustments.Analyze reports to identify accounts that fall outside PSC parameters, send appropriate customer notifications, and create work orders for the meter shop as needed.Review customer accounts prior to monthly billing to ensure accuracy of charges.Enter vendor invoices into CentralSquare or DocuWare for payment and send invoices to vendors for tower contracts.What You Bring :
